Important Insights for Out-of-Town Patients

At The Hague Center, our patients come from across the state of Virginia, throughout the U.S. and around the world. Our goal is to help make their travel and time with us as easy and stress-free as possible. If you will be having surgery, here are the steps of our proven process:

1. Contact our office to schedule your initial consultation. Our patient coordinator will talk with you about the services you want and ask you to send photos of yourself that are similar to the examples on our website to help our doctors assess your needs. Please note that email is not a secure form of correspondence, so mailing your photos is a better option. Important: If we require medical test results or clearance from your personal physician, that information must be provided at least two weeks before your surgery.
2. Schedule your preliminary visit and procedure. In order to provide the most effective services, we will need to perform an initial exam. We make every effort to schedule your exam two days before your surgery, which gives us the time we need to finalize our treatment plan while keeping your stay in the area at a minimum. When you schedule your visit, we will provide you with helpful information for planning your trip.
3. Arrange for assistance. You will need someone to drive you to and from your surgery appointment and also stay with you for 24 hours after the procedure. There are a few surgeries that require assistance for 3-4 days following the procedure. If you don’t have a friend or family member available, our patient coordinator can arrange for overnight nursing services. You will also need someone to get you to post-operative visits while you are on pain medication. Taxi services can be used for this purpose after 24 hours.

One of the keys to a successful procedure is effective communication. It is important that you stay in close contact with our team as you prepare for your surgery and recover from it. That way we can provide all the guidance and support you need to have a positive experience and achieve the results you’re looking for.
